How to Calculate Your Pool’s Gallon Size
Knowing your pool’s gallon size is important for properly adding chemicals, selecting equipment, and maintaining balanced water.
Before You Start
- Length (feet)
- Width or diameter (feet)
- Average depth (feet)
(Shallow depth + Deep depth) ÷ 2
Helpful Tip: Round measurements for easier calculations.
Pool Volume Formulas
Rectangular: Length × Width × Depth × 7.5
Round: Diameter × Diameter × Depth × 5.9
Oval: Length × Width × Depth × 6.7
Quick Pool Size Calculator
Step 1: Measure your pool
- Length: ______ ft
- Width / Diameter: ______ ft
- Average Depth: ______ ft
Step 2: Choose your pool type
- Rectangular → multiply by 7.5
- Round → multiply by 5.9
- Oval → multiply by 6.7
Step 3: Calculate
Length × Width × Depth × Multiplier = Total Gallons
Example: 16 × 32 × 4 × 7.5 = 15,360 gallons
